Using cheaper pen rods in the past, I didn't have much expectations in these either, and boy was I mistaken. When used properly with loose drag, these rods are absolutely amazing for fish of any size. My primary use for this is for a compact hunting/camp rod and I have caught anything from bullheads to bass and panfish. Even a 45 inch American eel. Both rods are still going strong and the reels are tough as nails. You guys rock!!

I love the rod and how small it can fold up. Unlike the instant fisherman it didn't snap when i had a 5 pound carp on the end. Just have to keep a loose drag.

I used this rod on the first day on the trout season here in Pennsylvania and landed fish from 16 to 19 inches.
I have the rod spooled with 4 lb line and it casted just fine and worked well landing all the fish
Remember to use your drag and play the fish
If you do this you will have fun and land your fish.

This pen fishing rod is amazing it was really fast shipping and makes your rod have one amazing fight. I caught a 7 pound carp on it my 1st fishing trip!!! Remember to read the warranty & directions. Worth the money. Also, KEEP A LOOSE DRAG like it said in the directions dummies. :)

I am the manager of cabelas in Texas. I highly recommend this reel and rod combo for all ages. Cabelas ordered about 10,000 at my store and I had to keep one for myself. Very good quality. GREAT for average size fish, or if you are skilled take your chances at landing a monster.
